China Horse Club Buys Into US G1 Winner

China Horse Club has acquired an interest in G1 winner Daredevil ahead of his seasonal debut in Saturday’s G2 Swale Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

The Todd Pletcher-trained Daredevil, by More Than Ready, won the G1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park last year for ownersy Let's Go Racing and WinStar Farm.

"Let's Go Racing and WinStar are thrilled to have such an exciting new partner as China Horse Club, who recently approached us with an interest in buying into Daredevil," said Bryan Sullivan of Let's Go Racing.

"China Horse Club's racing accomplishments at the highest level around the globe are nothing short of impressive."

China Horse Club is an emerging international thoroughbred racing club that has bought into such recent horses as English and Irish Derby winner Australia and Parranda, winner of last weekend’s the CECF Singapore Cup at Kranji, and multiple Australian G1 winner Dissident.

"China Horse Club has already enjoyed tremendous success with a top colt from the More Than Ready sire line with Dissident," said Elliott Walden, president and chief executive officer for WinStar.

"It's a great fit to have such a top international outfit associated with an exciting young Grade I winner in Daredevil, who possesses such a great international pedigree."

Daredevil broke his maiden in his career debut by 6 1/4 lengths before his Champagne Stakes win.

He then finished unplaced in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile.

Pletcher sees the Swale Stakes as a good first-up fit for Daredevil with future options yet to be resolved.

"We gave him a little freshening after the Breeders' Cup and this is kind of where we found ourselves, timing-wise," Pletcher said.

"He's a very efficient mover and just has a terrific action to him.

"We'll see how this race goes and probably try to stretch him out in the next start, and play that by ear.

“We'll take it one race at a time, and go from there."
