Untapable Unstoppable At Oaklawn Park

Trainer Steve Asmussen’s champion filly Untapable bounced back from a shock defeat on her seasonal debut, making no mistake in the G1 Apple Blossom Handicap at Oaklawn Park.

Conceding at least 4lb to her six rivals in the $600,000 contest, the Breeders' Cup Distaff winner took the lead at the top of the stretch before drawing away to score by two and a half lengths.

"She had a race under her belt this time and obviously off a lay-off last time out she still ran a great race," said her rider John Velazquez.

"Steve told me she was ready and she showed it. That was a great effort from her."

The daughter of Tapit has now won nine of her 13 career starts, including five Grade 1 races.

In other feature results from the US:

• The G1 Keeneland: Maker's 46 Mile on turf was won by Todd Pletcher’s five-year-old Jack Milton, ridden by Javier Castellano.

• Richard Mandela’s dual Eclipse Award winner Beholding made a soft return to win the Santa Lucia Stakes (ungraded) at Santa Anita over 8½f on the dirt.

Ridden by Gary Stevens, the 5YO mare she was having her first start after a six-month layoff.

• The G1 Jenny Wiley Stakes on the turf at Keeneland was won by Ball Dancing for trainer Chad Brown and rider Javier Castellano.
