Impressive Mohaymen Stays Unbeaten At Gulfstream Park

.Tapit’s undefeated 3YO Mohaymen, rated the early favourite by many for this year’s Kentucky Derby, picked up where he left off with an effortless win in the G2 Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream Park in Florida.

A $2.2 million Keeneland September yearling, Mohaymen is now four from four after previous wins in at Belmont Park on debut in September followed by the G2 Nashua Stakles at Aqueduct and the G2 Remsen Stakes where he beat subsequent G3 Jerome Stakes winner Flexibility.

Mohaymen tucked into a perfect pocket spot and was traveling easily when rider Junior Alvarado split the leaders as the field hit the far turn.

The grey was traveling well within himself as Alvarado took a peek back to see what might be coming and, confident that his mount had it in the bag, was simply a passenger in the run to the line.

Greenpointcrusader was 3 1/2 lengths back in second with a similar margin to Fellowship third.

“He took my breath away,” trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said.

“Today was pretty special. It looked like he might break and be on the lead because there wasn’t much pace and when that didn’t happen, I was a little nervous.

“But all went great. He’s just a special horse.”
