Tepin Confirmed For Royal Ascot

Champion mare Tepin is officially Royal Ascot bound following a pleasing workout at Churchill Downs without Lasix or her nasal strip.

With regular rider Julien Leparoux in the irons, the Robert Masterson runner was clocked in splits of 12.6 and 36.6 with an overall time of 1.14.6 for six furlongs.

Tepin races on Lasix and wears a nasal strip in her US races, but neither are allowed in UK racing.

Trainer Mark Casse reported that the mare was breathing heavier than normal after the workout but after discussions connections announced they had decided to stick to their plan send her to the Royal meeting.

“We are planning to take the filly to Royal Ascot and run in the Queen Anne Stakes,” owner Robert Masterson confirmed on Saturday.

“Right now, all systems are go and everybody is on board.

“She obviously has some things to overcome that are different than the way she is running here, but we would like to go try it and see how she does.”
