Frosted Ready For Woodward Stakes At Saratoga

Godolphin-owned Frosted, the standout winner of the Metropolitan and Whitney Handicaps at his last two starts, may have his next race in the G1 Woodward Stakes at Saratoga on Saturday.

The Kiaran McLauglin-trained star breezed a half-mile Thursday morning in 49 seconds flat over the all-weather track at the Greentree Training Center, his first work since his Whitney success.

“It’s not confirmed yet,” said McLaughlin, who is waiting for instructions from Godolphin’s chief executive John Ferguson.

“Jimmy Bell (Godolphin’s North American representative) has sent word to John Ferguson who is in turn talking to Sheikh Mohammed about the Woodward.

“That’s what we’re looking at. He’s ready if that’s what they choose.”

The conditioner was pleased with what he saw on the track Thursday morning.

“Perfect, nice, beautiful,” he said of the move.

“Doing great. He hasn’t changed at all.

“He came out of his race huge. No issues, so all is well.”
