Arrogate Confirmed For Dubai World Cup

Arrogate, the world’s highest rating thoroughbred, has been confirmed for the Dubai World Cup by trainer Bob Baffert.

The $10 million Dubai World Cup is the second most valuable race on dirt in the wolrd, bettered only by the $12 million Pegasus World Cup, which Arrogate won by four and three-quarter lengths last month.

The G1 Santa Anita Handicap in California had also been under consideration for last year's Breeders' Cup Classic hero.

However Baffert confirmed the Dubai World Cup at Meydan next month was the next objective for the four-year-old after conferring with his owners watching the grey complete a one mile workout.

"As long as he keeps working well he's going,” Baffert said.

Baffert also plans to run Hoppertunity in the Dubai World Cup over 2000m on March 25.

Arrogate has had his World Cup odds slashed to 1/2 (1.50) with William Hill following confirmation that he is an intended runner.

Baffert reported that he was pleased with Arrogate's Santa Anita workout.

"He looked great," Baffert said. "I'm really happy the way he's come out of that race (the Pegasus).

"He hasn't regressed or anything, he looked fantastic.

“He's enjoying himself, and he did it the right way. I'm really happy with the way he's going."
