Trainer Todd Pletcher allowed Always Dreaming to gallop on a sloppy track after overnight rain with exercise rider Nick Bush aboard and was pleased with how the colt performed.

Pletcher checked out the conditions before deciding that he would let the energetic three-year-old go out for a strenuous exercise gallop.

"Always Dreaming I thought actually went really well," Pletcher said. "He was settled, relaxed, got over the ground really well.

“ I was really, really pleased with the way he went this morning.

“It seemed like he was really just perfect. He was enthusiastic enough, but he didn't overdo it.

“I was concerned because anytime that you train on a sloppy surface they can get a little more excited but he was really good.

“I thought he was even more settled than I expected him to be."

Always Dreaming will not have a timed work between the Derby and the Preakness. On May 14 he was schedulked to have another light gallop and school in the starting gate.

Preakness rival Royal Mo was set for a five-furlong breeze at Pimlico on Sunday morning.

Trained By John Shirreffs, Royal Mo won the G3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes and was third in the G1 Santa Anita Derby on April 8.

At Churchill Downs on Saturday champion 2YO of last season Classic Empire jogged a lap and galloped a lap under exercise rider Martin Rivera.

The G1 Arkansas Derby winner will train Sunday morning before he leaves Kentucky for Baltimore late in the day.

Kentucky Derby runner-up Lookin At Lee and his 11th-place stablemate Hence, both trained by Steve Asmussen, had routine gallops at Churchill Downs on Saturday.
