It is a celebration of one of America's greatest horses – some claim him to be the best ever.
In two seasons 1919-1920 he won 20 of his 21 starts and established 7 track record.
There are 8 contenders here and we don't see another Man o'War emerging here. Red Knight is on top on 7/2 Maker – I Ortiz from Godolphin (Appleby)'s Warren Point with Dettori on board, and Soldier Rising on 5/1 for Christophe Clement and J-L Ortiz.
The Peter Pan Stakes is a G3 for the 3yo over 1800m and no Lasix! Bishop's Bay, by Uncle Mo, is on 8/5 for Cox and Geroux with the stablemate Slip Mahoney by Arrogate on 4/1 with Rosario riding. Classic Catch, by Class Empire, hails from the Pletcher yard and is on 9/2 with I Ortiz in the irons.
Also of interest is the Calvin Houghland Iriquois Hurdle Gr 1 to be run at the Percy Warner track in Nashville, Tennessee, which is a first for us. It's over 3 miles on turf and the market is headed by Snap Decision on 7/5 with one we are particularly interested in because he is by our darling Scorpion and that is Scorpion's Revenge on 10/1. Also interesting to see that Willy Mullins has Scaramanga here and Paul Townend is going over to ride – they are on 4/1.
