Preakness weekend in America

The Pimlico track hosts the second leg of the triple crown which is run over 1900m.

Two of the horses who ran in the Kentucky Derby are coming here – the winner Mystik Dan and the fourth Catching Freedom.  With the scratching of Muth, Mystik Dan has now moved to 8/5 favourite in a revised Morning Line which we cannot find so the other prices are the earlier ones, which has Catching Freedom on 6/1.  It also has Baffert's other runner Imagination, to be ridden by Franke Dettori, on the same quote.

There's two others we are thinking of for the multiples – Tuscan Gold on 8/1 for Brown-Gaffalione and Just Steel, a Justify colt out of an Aussie dam who is trained by the legendary D Wayne Lukas, 88 years young (Hong Kong please note age should not limit a trainer), with Joel Rosario riding and they are on 15/1.

Friday has the Gr 2 Black-eyed Susan as the featrue.  It's overe 1800m and has 8 3yo fillies contesting with Corpose the 5/2 favourite – she's by Vino Rosso.  Recharge is on 7/2 and D Wayne Lukas saddles Lemon Muffin 4/1.

The filies' race stipulates no Lasix within 48 hours of post time – not sure if that applies to other races as well.

Interesting to note that Kabirkhan who started his racing career in Kazakhstan has now arrived chez Brad Co. His 3 wins in his first three races were in Kazakhstan where the total prize money amounted to US$3458 so he went to Russia and just got beaten in the Russian Derby and then he went to Doug Watson in Dubai where he won the Al Maktoum Challenge and is the highest money earner for his sire California Chrome.
