91st Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby)

This is one of the biggest days in Japanese Racing and huge crowds flock to Fuchu.

It's G1 over 2400m for 3yos (not restricted to colts) and this year has a field of 17 lining up after a scratching earlier in the week reduced the field from 18.  As usual the track is expected to be firm.

Favourite is the winner of the Satsuki Sho (the first leg of the triple crown) Justin Milano who is by Kizuma and out of an Exceed and Excel mare so a bit of Aussie there.  He's undefeated and won the Satsuki Sho in record time but like most of these it will be his first time over the trip and he's drawn out wide.  Tosaki has the ride and they are on 2.7.

Next best is the very smart filly Regaleira, a daughter of Suave Richard who is not scared by the boys.  She has a fantastic finish and will be in the hands of Christophe Lemaire and they are on 4.5.  Sixpence is another Kizuna and also unbeaten – he's on 7.9.

There are three others to consider either for each way or multiples – Danon Ayers Rock who is by Maurice out of a Fastnet Rock mare and will be ridden by Joao Moreira and on 12.9, Sugar Kun a Duramente who is the only one to have a c&d win with Take riding and 16.3 and Shin Emperor, a full brother to French Derby winner Sottsass with Sakai riding and they are on 15.1.
