The Trial Files team look to find you a few for Saturday

Racing And Sports is pleased to introduce for punters the services from The Trial Files. Their team specialise in viewing Barrier Trials from Victoria, NSW and WA and analyse them for future race performances.

The Trial Files don’t just provide recommended selections but also provide a full trial review service which delivers information for all punters to use. They aim to educate people on trial information and stimulate wagering on those horses in the process.

Please find below some of their best for the weekend based on recent trials around the country.

BELMONT Race 6 – 1 Magnifisio

TRIAL COMMENTS

MAGNIFISIO – super trial again from this brilliant mare. Let the leader roll along and didn’t get caught in a fight for the lead. Sat 3L off the leader and picked her up under a tight hold in the straight. In great order yet again.

DUETON – this was a nice return for this more than capable sprinter. Sat tucked in behind the leader and eased out three wide before the corner. Picked up nicely over the final 300m and managed to run down the leader on the post. Both horses were under very little pressure.

SUMMARY

A feature $100,000 black type sprint over the flying 1000m looms as what many see as a match race between super mare Magnifisio and up and coming star Smoko.

SMOKO has been the boom horse in WA for a fair while now but has had well documented injury issues along the way. A winner of all of his 5 starts to date, all in restricted grade but by massive margins. Likely to go in search of the lead from barrier 9, but they will all be out there riding to beat him so he may not have the easiest time getting across and taking up the running.

MAGNIFISIO is simply a very good mare in very good form. Has won her last 5 starts in a row and she is the only truly weighted horse in this handicap, the rest should have more weight off her. In a true handicap, the difference between her and SMOKO would be 11.5kg, but today it is only 4.5kg. She will get a perfect run from barrier 3 and if the rest help her out by riding to beat SMOKO she will again be hard to beat. SMOKO may just be one out of the box, and we hope he is a future star, but in terms of betting today, much rather take the $4 about a proven performer in this class, than the up and comer at $1.60.

For exotics you would have to consider CELEBRITY MISS, who is a mare in great form, SOLDIER’S LASS and DUETON, but they just don’t have the class of the two favourites. Don’t really want to take the $1.60 about a horse who although having an extreme amount of talent, is yet to be proven in this grade and has had injury issues. Happy to play on MAGNIFISIO, each way, more to place, especially if you can lock in the $1.50 a place or better.

RANDWICK Race 1 (5) Global Domination & (10) Got You Double

TRIAL COMMENTS

GLOBAL DOMINATION was trapped very wide. Kept coming in the straight and went nicely to the line. Under pressure but a nice effort for the first time at a track.

GOT YOU DOUBLE settled third last. Came around the field and was wide. Peeled out and travelled very nicely to the line. Under no pressure but was strong to the line. Can see it running a good race on debut.

SUMMARY

At Randwick on Saturday, the trial files are interested in four horses and all are very big quotes. In Race 1, GOT YOU DOUBLE ($20) was tightened for room and held up on debut. His trials suggest he is better than that and can improve. GLOBAL DOMINATION ($15) was good first -up when trying to lead all the way. He has ability but still learning. He can roll forward again and give a sight at big odds.

RANDWICK Race 8 (3) Field Marshall & (9) Everage

TRIAL COMMENTS

FIELD MARSHALL was the best away and was in front early before settling second. Came off the leaders back and cruised up and went straight past. Did it easily and this was a lovely trial. Slow time the query.

EVERAGE – Has been a bit off the boil of late or not placed in suitable races. Showed her true ability in this trial and can improve next time out. Has notably always trialled well though. She settled second and had Countryman beaten a long way out. Good piece of work and did it both ends. Don't go crazy next start but just keep an eye on her.

SUMMARY

In the last, FIELD MARSHALL ($12) raced very keenly and was disappointing fresh. The addition of the Kyneton Nose Band should see him settle better and he can improve sharply. His trial prior suggested he is going ok. EVERAGE ($13) comes off a mid prep trial in which she went much better than form suggests. Another that can be thereabouts without surprising.
