Unfortunately, there has been plenty of rain in the River City this week so the 10-race card will be run on a heavy surface.

We've sifted through the form guide to find those horses that are most capable of handling the rain-affected track in each race below.

RACE 1 - 12:38PM: QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1350 METRES)

Tricky way to start the day with a two-year-old race where most have not experienced a wet track.

The Glenn Thornton-trained Run Lucy Run (9) was supported on debut over 1200m here and ran well, finding the line nicely to finish second by half a length.

That was on a Soft 6 and while a heavy surface is considerably different, at least she has enjoyed getting her hoof in the ground.

Boris Thornton will look to find a forward position.

RACE 2 - 1:13PM: Class 1 Handicap (1350 METRES)

Drialle (1) returned in good order last start but just missed getting the win.

The Barry Lockwood-trained Shalaa gelding fought bravely to finish a nose second over 1350m at Ipswich.

He'll strip fitter second-up and did win his second run back last preparation when handling a heavy Ipswich track with aplomb.

He's drawn a touchy sticky but gets the services of Michael Rodd to navigate any trouble.

RACE 3 - 1:48PM: BENCHMARK 68 Handicap (1600 METRES)

Lady Le Da (10) looks close to a win following a super effort over this distance at Eagle Farm last start.

The Paul Jenkins-trained four-year-old mare raced three wide and settled back but still charged home to finish a neck third.

She will appreciate dropping in class and while she's never raced on a heavy track, she has won or placed in all four of her races on soft going.

She's rock hard fit and just needs an ounce of luck to be in the finish.

RACE 4 - 2:23PM: BENCHMARK 78 Handicap (1600 METRES)

Beef Week Princess (4) is racing in great form and looks well placed to run another cracking race.

The Daniel Bowen-trained daughter of Casino Prince finished off strongly last start over 1600m at Eagle Farm to just miss the win by a head.

The start prior she proved too strong when winning by a neck over 1800m at the Gold Coast.

Sam Collett has been aboard both those rides and has quickly built a good connection with the mare.

She'll look to go forward in a race devoid of natural speed.

RACE 5 - 2:58PM: QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap (1600 METRES)

Transatlantic (2) stepped up to 1500m at Eagle Farm last start for the first time and handled it superbly.

The Tony Gollan-trained son of Snitzel settled handy before putting a gap in them in the straight to win by 3.3 lengths.

The rise to a mile looks ideal third-up and although he has never been on a heavy track, his breeding suggests he'll handle it.

He's drawn to get a beautiful run for Jimmy Orman.

RACE 6 - 3:33PM: BENCHMARK 78 Handicap (2000 METRES)

Gulf Of Tomini (11) has finished in the placings at all three starts this preparation and looks close to a win.

The Kristen Buchanan-trained five-year-old gelding was no threat to A Deel Of Humour last start over 1800m at Eagle Farm but did hit the line hard to finish second by two lengths.

He'll be at peak fitness and did win over this distance at Port Macquarie when fourth-up last preparation.

He's won on a heavy track before and draws to get an economical run.

RACE 7 - 4:08PM: OPEN Handicap (1200 METRES)

Northern Express (8) has come back this preparation in good style and should be at peak fitness fourth-up.

The Michael Nolan-trained son of Better Than Ready returned in strong fashion with a length win over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast first-up before storming home to win two starts back over this course and distance.

He was far from disgraced last start at Eagle Farm when just behind Ned's Gully who won.

The wet track won't be of any concern to him given he is undefeated on heavy tracks.

RACE 8 - 4:47PM: No Metro Wins Handicap (1110 METRES)

Majestic Boom (17) has started his career in perfect fashion with two wins from as many starts.

The Lawrie Mayfield-Smith-trained son of Spirit Of Boom burst through in the straight to win over 1200m here as a 100/1 outsider on debut.

Last start he proved that victory was no fluke by easily winning over 1200m at Eagle Farm with 60kg.

While he has never been on a rain-affected track, he drops to just 54kg and should enjoy a nice run.

RACE 9 - 5:27PM: BENCHMARK 88 Handicap (1350 METRES)

Kanazawa (8) looks well placed to provide the Ladbrokes Racing Club with their second win with him.

The O'Dea Hoysted-trained five-year-old gelding had teased to win for some time for the new stable but finally broke through last start with a strong but close victory over 1200m at Eagle Farm.

He'll strip fitter third-up and has raced well throughout his career when having his third run back which includes two Randwick 1400m wins.

In two heavy track starts, he won at Randwick and was beaten a head in the other so he should be comfortable in the going.

RACE 10 - 6:08PM: BENCHMARK 75 Handicap (1350 METRES)

En Pointe (8) was backed off the map last start and she didn't disappoint her backers.

The Rob Heathcote-trained daughter of Better Than Ready was a touch tardy away in the 1200m contest here but mustered to settle handy before storming to the line for an impressive win.

She takes on this distance for just the second occasion and wasn't disgraced in her first attempt but she's had a better lead up this time around.

Her record on rain-affected tracks is excellent, which negates the effect of the tricky gate.
