The Kensington track at Randwick will play host to Sydney’s midweek metropolitan meeting on Wednesday, May 15th.

The inclement weather has continued in Sydney throughout the last seven days and we will almost certainly be racing on a track rated in the Heavy range, while the rail will be set out three metres around the entire course.

Check out my full preview and Randwick-Kensington tips below!

RACE 1 - 12:15PM: Golden Mile @ Darley Handicap (1400m)

Smashing Time can continue his rise through the grades at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday.

On debut, the Brave Smash gelding hit the line handily to finish third, beaten just over two lengths by Hezdarnhot here, while he was an easy winner in maiden company at Kembla Grange last time.

He has plenty of upside and can go well again.

RACE 2 - 12:50PM: Drinkwise Plate (1400m)

Glebe steps out a fit horse this week and I am happy to give her another chance.

The Chris Waller-trained filly has placed in two of three runs back from a break, including a decent effort behind a smart Physicist at Canterbury a fortnight ago.

The 1400m looks ideal and we can have an each way play at the price.

RACE 3 - 1:25PM: James Squire Handicap (1300m)

There are some exciting gallopers engaged in Race 3 and it looms as one of the better contests on the program.

That being said, Franz Josef is resuming and puts an unbeaten record on the line.

The Snitzel gelding debuted to action with an eye-catching effort and win at Randwick on Boxing Day and as send for a break after a dominant win in BM64 company on Australia Day.

He's had a couple of trials in the lead-up to this return and is drawn a peach under Nash.

RACE 4 - 2PM: Petaluma Handicap (1250m)

Mars Mission is second-up and primed to strike.

The Team Hawkes-trained galloper turned in some typically smart performances last time in, winning in BM78 company at Rosehill most notably, while his fresh effort behind the likes of The Instructor and Wolves at the beginning of the month was full of merit.

His second-up record is excellent, and I think he's going to take plenty of beating.

RACE 5 - 2:35PM: Ole Kirk First Yearlings Handicap (1250m)

I'm siding with Silent Raindrops second-up in Race 5 at Randwick-Kensington.

Last time in, Silent Raindrops raced well in company not dissimilar to what she meets on Wednesday, winning in BM64 company and ending her prep with a deserved run in Saturday metro company.

She kept her best work for late when second, beaten less than a length at Wyong when resuming and she is open to plenty of improvement.

RACE 6 - 3:10PM: Hitotsu @ Arrowfield Handicap (1800m)

She's Got Veuve has winning claims in Sydney this week.

The Merchant Navy filly has been racing in consistent form this time win, placing in Class 1 races at Kembla Grange and Gosford at her last two.

She has a fitness edge over several key rivals this week and importantly, she has raced well on a heavy track previously.

RACE 7 - 3:45PM: Benchmark 64 Handicap (1800m)

Happy to give Yet He Moves another chance at Randwick-Kensington this week.

Yet He Moves returned to action with a nice performance behind Zouatica in April, but he didn't find much when asked by an extra effort by James McDonald at Canterbury last time out.

The small drop back to 1800m looks ideal, while the form out of his last race has since been franked.

With some relief in the weights, this looks within his abilities.

RACE 8 - 4:20PM: Hyland Race Colours Handicap (1400m)

Big drop in class for the third-up Naiconi and a great opportunity to return to winning form.

The Nicconi mare was a drifter in betting ahead of her return at Sandown last month but couldn't have been more impressive on her way to an easy win, but she was a little flat behind Extratwo in a lucrative VOBIS race last time out.

Fitter third-up and back to the midweeks, she is my best bet on the program.
