The Hayes-Dabernig team saddle up Miss Promiscuity, Sheidel and Wawail in the 2016 UBET Classic, also known as the Robert Sangster Stakes, at Morphetville this Saturday May 7.

The trio have enjoyed varying fortunes at the barrier draw with Miss Promiscuity drawing gate 21 before scratchings.

Miss Promiscuity goes into the 2016 UBET Classic after winning her last start at Caulfield including the rich Vobis Gold Sprint where she accounted for smart filly Jalan Jalan and 2016 Newmarket Handicap winner The Quarterback.

Hayes is hoping Miss Promiscuity’s early pace and a touch of luck can overcome the wide draw.

“She’s got terrific tactical speed – she’ll definitely come across and will be right on the pace,” Hayes said.

“If she doesn’t get too bad a run she’ll be right in the finish.”

Former Perth mare Sheidel has had three runs for Hayes-Dabernig since venturing east and is a last-start winner of the Listed Bel Esprit Stakes at Caulfield.

Sheidel fared much better at the draw coming up with the inside gate and Hayes is confident her early pace can all her to use the barrier to full advantage.

“She’s a very fast mare and could’ve led them the other day when she won,” Hayes said.

“She’ll probably box seat and get a lovely run.”

Wawail drops in distance on her recent runs but was a Group 3 winner over 1400 metres two runs back and has been aimed at the race.

“She’s been saved for this but it’s really a genuine Group 1 race,” Hayes said.

“She’s a Group 2 winner and hopefully she can step up – she’ll get a really good run from the gate.”

Hayes rates his best chance on the Morphetville card as the two-year-old filly Tris in the 2016 Queen Adelaide Stakes.

Tris is shooting for a hat-trick of victories after an Echuca win and a last-start victory in the Group 3 Breeders Stakes at Morphetville.

“I expect her to run really well,” Hayes said.

“She won a Group race last start, nice three week gap between runs and she’s in great order.”

Hayes also expects improvement from Moqla in the same race.

“She bombed out a bit racing inside horses,” Hayes said

“We’ve put blinkers on and the wide gate is probably an advantage.”
