Jameka ($4) defied a betting drift with the TAB to take out the 2016 Caulfield Cup on Saturday.

Installed a $3.30 favourite after the barrier draw on Tuesday, Jameka drifted out to as much as $4.20 just prior to the jump.

Sprinting sharply in the straight, Jameka raced away to land a big blow to the TAB.

Scottish ($7-$6-$7) did plenty of work to find the front but battled on to run second. Punters backed the Godolphin-trained runner heavily as only Jameka held more money than it.

Exospheric ($15-$16) finished strongly for third and it too had its share of admirers.

Sacred Master, which was as much as $35 and backed into $11, started a $13 chance while Articus ($8.50-$9.50-$10) drifted after being one of the favourites earlier in the week.

Bets: Jameka $10,000 @ $3.70, $5,000 @ $3.80; Scottish $5,000 @ $7, $2,000 @ $7, $2,000 @ $6.50 multiple time, $1,000 x $5,000 @ $6.50/$2.37; Exospheric $1,000 @ $15

The following race, the 2016 Caulfield Sprint, was turned on its head after the heavily backed Hellbent was scratched earlier in the day.

Wild Rain ($3.60) held favouritism after that over Our Boy Malachi ($4.20).

The Team Hawkes-trained sprinter was three-wide for a good portion of the race despite being near the rear of the field. Jockey Dwayne Dunn came the widest on the turn with the son of Top Echelon swept down the centre of the track to score easily.

Champion sprinter Lankan Rupee ($6) went out as the most popular runner in terms of money taken and after being held up in the straight, got out late to wind up third.

The Mick Price-trained runner held 30 percent of the total investment.

Bets: Our Boy Malachi $2,000 @ $3.80, $2,000 @ $3.90, $2,500 @ $4.20

First Seal.

First Seal bought the huge go on Tycoon Tara undone by finishing too well for the favourite in the Tristarc Stakes.

First Seal was $6 out to $7 on the day, however, was still the best tried to beat the fave who bottomed out at $2.50 after starting the week a $3.80 chance.

Tycoon Tara ($2.90) held 36 percent of the total investment and still held more than Danish Twist ($4-$5.50) and First Seal combined.

Denmagic, specked from $13 into $9.50, wound up fourth after some solid backing while Pearls ($15-$17) finished well for third.

Bets: Tycoon Tara $5,000 @ $3.20, $3,500 @ $2.90; Danish Twist $2,000 @ $5.50, $2,400 @ $5.50.

Voodoo Lad.

Punters ended the day on a winning note with Voodoo Lad ($3.30-$2.50) landing some big bets.

Backed into $3 in the early afternoon, the serious money came late and that’s when it was crunched into $2.50. Overall it held well over half of all bets in the final event.

Takedown was best backed to beat it and after being held up in the straight after racing behind the leader, finally saw daylight to finish second while Turnitaround ($151) hung on for third in front of the leader Good Project ($13-$21).

Bets: Voodoo Lad $9,000 @ $2.40

Egyptian Symbol.

In Sydney, Egyptian Symbol ($2.70) was very well supported from the time markets opened on Wednesday and aided by a great ride by Jason Collett didn’t let her supporters down winning convincingly.

Artistry was very heavily backed throughout the day. After opening at $9.50 on Saturday morning, the Team Snowden galloper who was caught wide the whole way, did extremely well to finish second and is sure to have its supporters again next time it races.

There were multiple big bets taken on Egyptian Ruler who held nearly 70 percent of all monies wagered on the race.

Bets: Egyptian Symbol $10,000 @ $2.70; Artistry $4,000 @ $7; Rule the River $4,000 @ $7

Spieth.

After drifting early in the day ($3.50 to $4.20), punters launched into Spieth to start as the $3.20 favourite.

Kinglike was clear second pick and started at a quote of $3.70 after opening at $5.00.

Despite missing the start, and getting buried back in the ruck, Jay Ford was able to get Spieth off the fence and launch down the middle of the track for a very impressive win. There were a host of $1,000 and $2,000 bets and punters are sure to stick with him moving forward.

Kaepernick ($6.50) ran home well for second, whilst Le Cordon Bleu ($18) was a nice run first-up. Kinglike unfortunately bled and will be stood down for a few months.

Bets: Spieth $2,000 @ $3.50 multiple times, $2,000 @ $3.20 multiple times, $2,000 @ $3.10 multiple times.
