Champagne Dreams returns for spring campaign

Smart sprinting mare Champagne Dreams will ramp up her spring preparation with a gallop between races at Morphettville on Saturday.

The Wayne Francis and Glen Kent-trained mare hasn't raced since running 11th behind Snapdancer in the Group 1 Sangster Stakes at Morphettville in May that followed a successful campaign where she was narrowly beaten in the Group 3 Typhoon Tracy at Moonee Valley before winning the Listed Redelva Stakes at Morphettville in April.

"She's back bigger and stronger,'' Kent said.

"We've held her back after a big campaign and basically to avoid the wet tracks.

"We had planned to trial her Friday, so the gallop works well,'' he said.

Kent said daughter of Reward For Effort would be targeted towards a Melbourne return on Caulfield Cup Day.

"There is a couple of options for her,'' Kent said.

"She can run in the Caulfield Sprint or there is a mares race over 1100m the same day,'' he said.

Champagne Dreams will gallop alongside stablemate Aadelad.
