Morty 'primed' for John Letts Cup

Shayne Cahill is chasing the biggest win of his training career when Morty tackles Saturday’s $107,250 John Letts Cup (1800m) at Morphettville.

Cahill has Morty ready to peak at his third run back from a spell following a solid effort when sixth behind Agreeable in the Murray Bridge Gold Cup.

"I was in two minds, the mile race or the John Letts Cup but the way the race has ended up I think he can run well,'' Cahill said.

"He ran really well in the Murray Bridge Cup, he just needs a trouble free run, and I am sure he's going to be in the finish,'' he said.

The dual licenced horseman also has Point Blaze, who looked the winner before being cut down by My Khalifa last start, set to run favourite early in the day and said the mare looks perfectly placed.

"I think both horses third-up look primed,'' Cahill said.

"Whether she just peaked on her run the other day or not, it's hard to say, but she looks the class horse in the race and should be cherry ripe,'' he said.
