Emmet Mullins and Paul Byrne are out to repeat their £100,000 bonus success of two years ago with their horse, Mctigue.

The four-year-old earned the two trainers and their owner the bonus when they won the Morebattle Hurdle at Cheltenham. Mctigue has an entry to the Triumph Hurdle, but more likely appears in the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle, Coral Cup, or the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle at the upcoming festival.

Mullins reported that the horse's performance at Kelso, this Saturday, would determine the decision for Cheltenham. Last year's Kelso winner, Cormier, made a good effort for the bonus placed seventh in the County Hurdle. Mctigue is a useful maiden winner on the Flat for trainer Jim Bolger and has won two of his four starts over hurdles for Mullins. The son of Fracas has been given a UK rating of 142.

A second entry at Kelso is Colonel Mustard, trained by Lorna Fowler. The eight-year-old finished third to State Man in the County Hurdle at last year's Cheltenham Festival and is having the option of reverting to hurdles. His last showing was second place to El Fabiolo in a beginners' chase at Fairyhouse in December.

Mctigue and Colonel Mustard are two exciting Irish entries to the Morebattle Hurdle at Kelso and there is anticipation to see how they both fare this Saturday. Thereafter, Mullins and Byrne can make a decision as to target a festival race for their horse to be in with a chance of winning the £100,000 bonus at Cheltenham.
