Weights for the Irish Grand National were released on Tuesday morning with 33 of the 84 entries belonging to Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins. Savills Chase winner and Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup-bound Conflated has top weight with 11st 12lb, whilst other notable entries include Galvin (11st 9lb), Stattler (11st 7lb) and Fury Road (11st 5lb).

Last year's winning horse Lord Lariat, who McLoughlin also has entered, is a 20-1 shot with the sponsors to repeat his success of 12 months ago. However, the trainer has set his sights on the English National at Aintree five days later and is hoping Captain Cj can recapture his form of the last few seasons. The horse won a Grade 2 at Navan in 2020 and will be making his way to the Leinster National at Naas on Sunday in readiness for the race.

McLoughlin will also have The Echo Boy at the start line, with expectations that the hat-trick could be on if Captain CJ recaptures his former form. The trainer is certainly optimistic and is looking forward to seeing the results of the race. Six potential overseas challengers are also lined up for the Irish Grand National, so competition is expected to be fierce.
