Myword that was impressive

The 2024 Devonport Cup could be a long-range target for Mywordis who made light work of his top weight of 62kg to score an impressive win at Devonport on Sunday and continue his love affair with the synthetic Tapeta surface.

"The original plan was this year's Devonport Cup but we had a few setbacks so next year we will be looking down those lines as well," trainer Drew Tyson said after the race.

While that is still a long way off, Tyson wants to test his 6yo over longer trips in his next few runs.

"I'll have a look at stretching him out to 2100m, if not we will run over a mile or 1800, I'll have to have a look at the calendar to see what's coming up, we've just got to make sure the (right) races are around for him, he's a very handy horse."

Back from a couple of unplaced runs in Melbourne, Mywordis was given the run of the race by Ismail Toker to take out the Leaping Goat Coffee BM 68, 1880m.

Toker had the well-supported favourite ($5.00 too. $2.70) trailing fourth for most of the trip before ambling to the lead around the home turn. Mywordis proved too good for Incriminate who led and fought on strongly with Afridi running third.

Mywordis has now raced 12 times on the Devonport track for five wins and six placings. His overall record is 39 starts, seven wins and 15 placings. His win on Sunday took his stake earnings past $200,000.

No Access got punters off to the right start when he broke through for an overdue win in the Ladbrokes Yard Comments Maiden, 1350m. Despite a wide run, No Access ($1.80 to $1.60) gave favourite backers little concern, hitting the front at the top of the straight and holding on for a game win beating Moorboozie by 1.25 lengths with One Star Dream third.

Ridden by Siggy Carr, No Access has shown a liking for the synthetic surface with his record on the track, five starts for one win and three placings.

Carr made it an early double when the well-backed Far Away Hit ($5.50 to $3.30) made amends for an unlucky second in Hobart at her previous run with a strong win in the Goodstone Group Class 1, 1150m.

Trained at the track by Mark Ganderton, Far Away Hit sat outside the leader before surging to the lead 400m from home. Belpine Miss ran on well for second with Slipslopslap third.

Myocardium proved his win in Launceston on Good Friday was no fluke with a fighting effort to score in the Tasmanian Horse Transport Class 1, 1650m. Headed and looking beaten at the top of the straight, Myocardium, under vigorous riding from Kelvin Sanderson, kicked back strongly to win by a neck. A relative newcomer to the Barry Campbell stable, Myocardium has now won twice and scored a stakes cheque in all five runs since transferring to the Devonport-based trainer.

Sunshine Moshe was another to make it back-to-back wins after scoring in Launceston in late March. The former Victorian has only had four starts for new trainer Andrew Roach and proving to be a handy pick-up.

Ridden by Chelsea Baker, Sunshine Moshe raced on the speed and held off a late challenge from Tiltherewarsyou to win by a short head. Alpine Aviator who crossed from the outside barrier to lead, battled on well to run third.
