Platinum out to win Gold on Cup Day

KRISTI Evans will saddle up her first Flemington runner when Platinum Wolf steps out on Melbourne Cup Day.

The talented galloper makes his interstate debut on arguably Australian racing's biggest day in the Subzero Handicap for greys and Kristi Evans said it was an exciting moment for her Murray Bridge stable.

"He's travelled over great,'' Evans said.

"It's a huge thrill for the stable and all his connections to have a runner on such a big day, it's going to be a great experience,'' she said.

Platinum Wolf has won three of his nine starts and Evans said the Flemington 1400m was a perfect set up third-up from a spell.

"I think 1400m is his sweet spot,'' Evans said.

"Nothing really went right on the Parks last time, Craig (Newitt, jockey) will have done his homework, there should be good speed in the race and that will suit,'' she said.

Evans has four runners in Adelaide at Morphettville.

Alana Livesey will partner Back Me Up Benny, Lachlan Neindorf rides Costless while Jimmy's Edge (Neindorf) and Valhalla Fella (Justin Potter) clash in the last race of the day.

"I think Jimmy's Edge is our best there,'' Evans said.

"Valhalla Fella worked very well with the blinkers on the other day, maybe we can quinella it,'' she said.
