Cook accepted with stable mates Rock 'n' Sol, Schappose and Wren's Day in the Open Handicap over 1560 metres.

However, Tim Cook dual nominated Wren's Day for Mackay on Thursday and Townsville on Sunday.

He has since opted to save the 10-year-old for the Sunday assignment at Cluden Park. 

Cook rates Rock 'n' Sol as the pick of his team following the eight-year-old's last start fourth in a 1560 metre Benchmark race at Mackay last month.

"He had 62.5kgs on his back with the claim for Erin Molloy and he drops to 54kgs and will have a senior on this time," Cook said.

Cook is likely to bring down the curtain on Schappose's career if the nine-year-old doesn't show a glimpse of his best form.

"He's been a good horse for us but if he doesn't perform he'll probably be retired," Cook said.

Schappose has won six times for Cook since he was moved on from Toowoomba trainer Dale Groves three years ago.

However, he hasn't won since May and is coming off a last start eighth when he beat one home at Home Hill on November 4.

Wren's Day, the winner of last year's Cleveland Bay in Townsville, made his stable debut for Cook when he beat one home in a field of 10 over 1400 metres at Yeppoon on November 4.

"He didn't handle the track at all last start as it was way too hard for him," Cook said.

"Ash Butler believes Townsville will suit him better so I'm looking at a 1200 metre races there if he doesn't go around at Mackay."

Cook has only had Wren's Day for a month after Eagle Farm trainer Lindsay Gough sent the veteran north.

After running in the Cairns Newmarket and Cairns Amateur Sprint for Gough, Wren's Day was left in the care of Fred Wieland.

He only had two starts for Wieland -  including a second in the Country Cups Challenge qualifier at Bowen - before being moved on to Cook.
