Recent Conquering Stakes winner Indispensable is a perfect example of the success that well-travelled horses can have in Tasmania, and a Group 1 winning trainer hopes to plunder more riches during the Ladbrokes Summer Racing Festival.

Warrnambool trainer Lindsey Smith is setting up a base at the Seven Mile Beach stables of Imogen Miller and is expected to kick things off in the Apple Isle with Friday's Kevin Sharkie Tasmanian Stakes meeting.

"I'll be travelling down to Tasmania frequently, but I'll be working closely with Imogen.

"I've trained most of my career down the beach, so Imogen's setup is something I'm familiar with," said Smith, who expects to have a team of around 10 horses racing in the state.

Smith has two runners nominated for Friday afternoon's program in Hobart, beginning with five-year-old mare Glitter 'N' Gold, a horse that Smith has earmarked as a potential Hobart Cup prospect.

"A couple of good races for Glitter 'N' Gold are coming up, starting with the 2100-metre quality race (Brighton Cup).

"Kaptain Kaos can go to a couple of the weight-for-age races. He probably wouldn't beat The Inevitable, but sometimes those horses can get beat, as he showed the other night,"

An 11-time Group 1 winner, Smith has had a small number of horses race in Tasmania previously but says the current prize money and racing structure make the product an attractive prospect.

"Instead of selling horses online, I thought that they could go down there and win a few more races, which is great for the owners.

"I've liked my time in Tassie in the past, and once I saw the facilities on the beach with Imogen, I thought it was a no-brainer."

Friday's Hobart program has attracted 259 nominations across 10 races. Looking to atone for a surprise defeat in the Conquering, The Inevitable is one of 13 nominations for the Listed $125,000 Kevin Sharkie Tasmanian Stakes, potentially up against Indispensable in a Conquering re-match, and last week's Sheffield Cup winner, Hype.
