Lincoln Moore Mount Gambier Preview: 3rd January 2024

BEST BETS SCANDALOUS SCARLET (Race 1) THUNDER PARK (Race 5)

RACE 1 - 1:20PM EDI Tree & Garden Benchmark 64 Handicap (2066 METRES)

Scandalous Scarlet comes off a Nhill win beating Eterea, who went to Naracoorte and won smartly since. Her Victorian form is solid, and she looks the horse to beat. Red Patrol looks the danger. He hasn't been out of the money in all three runs here on his home track and was a soft 2.3 length winner over Rain Dance here last time. Eight Shout's was OK when 3rd behind Eterea at Naracoorte last time. He draws a good barrier.

RACE 2 - 1:55PM Finns Fine Food Maiden Handicap (908 METRES)

Magic Field had some market support and was on speed when beaten 5 lengths behind Sharendipity at Morphettville on debut. He draws well and should be in the mix. Deep Reflections is on debut for the Bain/Taylor stable who are enjoying a brilliant run. He was slow into stride but looked to have some ability in a Morphettville jump out back in August. Miss Centauri debits for the Dunn/Bishop stable and was OK running 3rd in a recent Port Lincoln trial. Falling Leaves had market support on debut here back in July. Radiant Knight showed speed at Gawler last time out.

 RACE 3 - 2:30PM Carlin & Gazzard Summer Cup Sunday 21 January Maiden Plate (1315 METRES)

Rocklea hasn't been further back then 5th in all five runs and was placed at Penshurst before running 5th behind Credible Analyses at Kyneton last time out. He draws a good barrier and should be in the finish somewhere. Love You Belle has been well backed in all three starts, the latest when $3.40 favourite beaten 2.9 lengths behind Spangled Slipper at Naracoorte. What A Flirt  was a drifter in betting when 2nd behind Overstrike at Bordertown and maps well from the barrier. Ovabent was $4.40 into $3 favourite when beaten 112 lengths at Balaklava on debut back in July. The blinkers come off here. Offcast is on debut for Ballarat horseman Henry Dwyer and was placed in a recent jump-out.

 RACE 4 - 3:05PM Scott Group of Companies Benchmark 70 Handicap (1565 METRES)

Looks a nice race for Bolt By who has had three runs for the Jordan Frew stable, placed on the Parks behind Brander's Rule two runs back before being beaten 6.8 lengths behind Bamyan Buddha at Gawler. WILD WILLY was on speed and boxed on OK when 3rd behind Deeling Aces at Terang last time. Wayne Walters has half the field here, Fast 'N' Forward has a good record here on her home track with six wins from her 12 starts and she comes out of the Mortlake Cup won by Sous Les Nuages. Stablemate Innocent Pegg coming off a Nhill 2nd behind Orienzel. She has a no weight and a good barrier. The third Full Of Dash  was OK here two starts back. Vancouver Velvet  was a dual winner at Port Lincoln in Feb/March last year and does go OK fresh.

 RACE 5 - 3:40PM Carlton Draught Benchmark 64 Handicap (1215 METRES)

Thunder Park was $12 into $7.50 when first-up for almost a year when 2nd behind Francine at Geelong. He draws the good barrier and does look the one to beat. Ravinkar won consecutive races at Penola and Horsham before running last at Casterton in May. He's been placed at both runs here and is a winner fresh. Cranc had market support first-up from a spell when beaten less then a length at Colac behind Kammenbergs. He's a winner second-up and should run well. Melissa Kate was a winner here in August on a Heavy track and was freshened when beaten 4.4 lengths behind Theycallmebruce. Ali Orphan has a good record around here and was placed behind Fast 'N' Forward here five runs back.

 RACE 6 - 4:15PM Thomas Foods International Benchmark 54 Handicap (908 METRES)

Geminga is a dual winner this track and trip and comes out of some handy races, the latest running 4th behind Willaston at Morphettville. She gets an inside gate and gets in well after the claim to give this a big shake. Maddison Miss has been placed this track and trip and comes off a solid effort running 2nd behind Zofferella at Oakbank. She won over the 1000m at Port Lincoln four runs back and looks a danger. Carry On Camping was placed at three consecutive races before he was on speed and beaten 4.1 lengths behind Gold Manuka Yarra Valley. Stake A Claim comes off a Nhill win beating She's The Sheriff and maps to get a good run from the barrier. Tarasque  was 2nd behind Little Bit Chai here three starts back and can run well.

 RACE 7 - 4:50PM Budget Rental Cars Mount Gambier Rating 0 - 58 Handicap (1565 METRES)

Dale's Rocket was a winner here in March beating Pocket Raider and should be ready to fire after three runs back the latest when 5.45 lengths in 6th behind Deeling Aces at Terang. He draws a good barrier and should run well. Imposing Suspect was a Gawler winner three starts backing beating Bamyan Buddha and was only fair beaten 8.1 lengths behind Cullen Skink at Morphettville. Forever Waiting went around big odds at his first two starts before jumping a $9.50 chance when a winner over Bonanski at Bordertown. He draws out but should be thereabouts again. Langworthy was a Strathalbyn winner three starts back and was OK last start 3 lengths behind Hobo Bob at Strathalbyn. Aeroette has been in the money at three of four this track and trip and a winner here two runs back.
