The biggest stables in Tasmania will be joined by a smart interstate contingent, and there is plenty of value to be found throughout the day.

RACE 1 - 12PM: Travel On Crown Wollongong BM76 Handicap (1100m)

Tsunami Sam turned in a competitive performance first-up in December and can go one better when he returns on Ladbrokes Hobart Cup Day.

The Shamexpress gelding has been a consistent performer throughout his fifteen career starts, winning five times and placing a further three, finding form around some quality gallopers.

He gets some relief in the weights here and should get every chance in this small field.

RACE 2 - 12:30PM: Mingari + Co BM64 Handicap (2100m)

Kay Oh Ell has been knocking on the door of a win recently and gets a great chance at Hobart on Sunday.

The El Roca mare has finished worse than second once in her last five trips to the races, but was well accounted for by Conumdrum at Launceston last time.

There is no horse of that quality engaged this week and Kay Oh Ell can capitalise.

RACE 3 - 1:05PM: Winning Edge Presentations Maiden (1200m)

There's a case to be made for plenty of them in this maiden race.

I can't find anything that I am particularly confident in, and I am happy to stay out of it from a betting perspective.

RACE 4 - 1:40PM: Kevin Sharkie Maiden (1400m)

Loud Mouth steps out second-up and primed to strike.

The Belardo gelding turned in some nice performances last time in, and after trialling well, I thought that he was good through the line over 1200m here last month.

With natural improvement and getting further out in trip, I think he's going to take beating.

RACE 5 - 2:15PM: Listed Strutt Stakes (2100m)

Into the black type and mainlander Very Sewreel is going to take plenty of beating in the Strutt Stakes.

Very Sewreel has been in strong and consistent form since returning from a breaking, winning two of four starts, including an eye-catching performance over a mile at The Valley last time out.

She's hard fit and a repeat of that performance would almost certainly be good enough for her to win something like this as well.

RACE 6 - 2:50PM: Ladbrokes Community Sports Series BM60 Handicap (1400m)

Make A Decision is more than capable of a big effort under the right circumstance and with luck from barrier 13, I thought this looked a great opportunity for him.

Make A Decision has won two of seven career starts since debuting, placing a further four times, and hitting the line to finish just over half a length behind the winner here last time out.

He's hard fit and with relish some relief in the weights with Taylor Johnstone's claim.

RACE 7 - 3:25PM: The JBM Group Maiden/Class 1 (1600m)

Another open race with a few live hopes engaged, including Storm Giver.

Storm Giver turned in a couple of flat performances two and three starts back, having broken his maiden back in November, but he was far stronger through the line in Launceston at his latest and was probably unlucky not to get there.

Buoyed by that performance, he's hard fit and might not be offered a better opportunity than this.

RACE 8 - 4PM: Listed Magic Millions Thomas Lyons (1400m)

I am a big fan of Turk Warrior and he's the one for me in this year's Thomas Lyons Stakes.

Turk Warrior announced himself to the racing community by winning his first eight race starts, and while he didn't progress into the genuine Group 1 contender that many thought he would, he has still been a more than credible performer in Tasmania's best sprints.

Having finished third, beaten half a length in the Ladbrokes Stakes last time out, he's ready for the 1400m, and he can make all of his own luck up on the speed.

RACE 9 - 4:40PM: Group 3 Ladbrokes Hobart Cup (2400m)

The 150th Ladbrokes Hobart Cup has attracted a smart field of stayers, including Alhambra Lad.

Alhambra Lad has continued to improve with each of four runs back from a break, culminating in a dominant performance over 2200m here last time out, beating home several of his key Hobart Cup rivals.

He's hard fit, he'll stay all day, and a repeat of that effort will see him winning again.

RACE 10 - 5:20PM: Beach Club Class 2 Handicap (1200m)

Starnote was a smart winner in weaker company when resuming and looks capable of making it two in a row on Ladbrokes Hobart Cup Day.

The Zoustar mare was taken straight to the lead in the BM60 sprint here in late December, travelling well and kicking clear to greet the judge almost two lengths clear.

She's been kept fresh and can emulate those tactics on Sunday from a good draw and with no weight in tow.
