Weekend Wrap: Plenty of fuel left for Collett, Tootell wins first cup in Kingscote

MAGGIE Collett’s impressive form in the saddle continued at Morphettville on Saturday with a riding double in combination with in-form horseman Peter Hardacre.

Progressive staying mare Dual Fuel made it three wins in succession when she overcome a tardy start to power over the top of rivals in the opening race of the day.

"She just stood in the gates again,'' Collett said post-race.

"Being a small field we didn't stress, she relaxed good and was really dominant late,'' she said.

Tahnee Treasure was the second leg of the bookend double when she came off a solid tempo to run down Marvelous Night in the last race of the day.

"She just keeps stepping up, she tries her heart out,'' Collett added.

"This horse has been ultra consistent,'' Rutten said.

"She's struggled to win, we've started swimming her and it's really bought her on,

"To start my training career with a horse like this has been great,'' she said.

Across the water Nicole Irwin claimed a third Kangaroo Island Cup when Eureka's Victory was successful with Caitlin Tootell in the saddle.

It was the second leg of a double for Irwin after Redwinelover saluted early in the day while Tootell claimed herself a riding double after Final Chance scored early on Cup Day.
