$500,000 goes on the line at Gosford on Saturday when a quality metropolitan program is headlined by The Coast.

The card also features races like the Gosford Gold Cup and the Takeover Target Stakes, and with so much talented confirmed across a total of ten races, there is plenty of opportunities to find value and a winner.

I've run the rule over the program, and you can find my complete The Coast Day Preview below.

RACE 1 - 11:15AM: Gosford IT 2YO Handicap (1200m)

Imperial Force takes winning form into this contest and can make it two in a row.

The Snitzel colt finished second on debut at Randwick-Kensington in March and enjoyed plenty of improvement into a dominant win at Canterbury last time.

I like that he has been kept up to the mark with a trial since and something like this looks the next logical step for him.

RACE 2 - 11:50AM: Midway Handicap (1200m)

I'm going to have something on Spicy Hotpot third-up in an open Midway race this week.

She has tended to mix her form a little throughout her career, but Spicy Hotpot returned to action with a nice effort to win in Class 1 company at Newcastle last month, while she was never a factor in her only other run this time.

Fitter third up and dropping noticeably in the weights, she has each way claims.

RACE 3 - 12:35PM: Highway Handicap (1200m)

Cool Duke puts an unbeaten record on the line in this week's Highway Handicap and is worthy of a crack at something of this quality.

The Frosted gelding hit the line to win on debut at Tuncurry in Match and has since recorded wins in Class 1 and BM58 company respectively.

He's hard fit and is drawn to receive every chance under Dylan Gibbons.

RACE 4 - 1PM: Tooheys New BM78 Handicap (2100m)

Piraeus returned to winning form in the Orange Gold Cup last time out and this looks a lovely Saturday metro race for him.

The Merchant Navy gelding has been racing in consistent form throughout his preparation and was rewarded over 2110m last time out.

In peak order, he drops in the weights this week, gets the services of Rachel King and looks to be a bit of value in betting.

RACE 5 - 1:35PM: Signarama Erina/Gosford 3&4YO BM72 Handicap (1600m)

Scarlet Oak looks to have a bright future and she can record another win on The Coast Day.

The Kermadec filly stamped herself as one to watch with an easy win on debut over in New Zealand, while she debuted in Australia to finish second in the Group 3 JHB Carr Stakes at Randwick.

With improvement and dropping in class, I can't find a reason why she won't be in the finish.

RACE 6 - 2:10PM: Listed Gosford Gold Cup (2100m)

As if it wasn't already a coveted prize in racing, the Gosford Gold Cup also now carries Big Dance eligibility, and I think that it will be claimed by Hezashocka.

Hezashocka has been a great horse for Mick Price & Mick Kent Jnr for a few seasons now, though it has been a while since he won a race.

Having improved with each of three runs back this time, peaking when third in the JRA Plate at Randwick last time out, this looks a perfect feature race for him.

RACE 7 - 2:45PM: Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m)

The Takeover Target Stakes is worth a cool $250K this year and a fittingly excellent field of sprinters is engaged.

Stefi Magnetica was excellent in the early autumn and looks a winning chance here with only 53.5kgs in tow.

Having been held up for a run before charging home to only just miss placing in the Light Fingers Stakes in February, the All Too Hard filly trailed the speed before only just missing in the Group 1 Surround Stakes at her latest.

She's had the benefit of a trial leading up to this race and she is a winner at this point of her prep previously.

RACE 8 - 3:20PM: The Coast (1600m)

There's a case to be made for many, but The Coast really does look a perfect feature race for Williamsburg.

Williamsburg has picked off some nice races throughout his career, finding form around quality gallopers in the process and placing in Group 1 company.

The key to him this week is the heavy going – he absolutely relishes it, while the mile will also play into his strengths.

RACE 9 - 4PM: Triple M Thunder Thousand BM78 Handicap (1000m)

Passeggiata makes her eagerly awaited return to the races in the penultimate on The Coast Day.

Trainer Bjorn Baker made headlines when he declared the mare as the fastest horse that he has ever trained last year, and she did manage to win three of six starts, only just missing on another occasion.

She absolutely flies fresh and is unbeaten at this point of her preparation, and a couple of sharp recent trials add further confidence this week.

RACE 10 - 4:40PM: Railway Hotel BM78 Handicap (1200m)

Heuristic clearly needed his first run back from a break to tune up, but I am keen to stick with him when he steps out in the last on The Coast Day.

The Street Boss gelding stamped himself as one to watch with a string of smart performances last time in, peaking with a victory in Group 3 company down in Adelaide.

He's drawn ideally this week and with even luck, I'm confident that he has a lot of these rivals covered for class.
