The Sharks are sitting pretty in second spot after winning five of their opening six games of the campaign, and can be backed at 13.00 to go on and win the grand final.

Next up is a tricky trip to the nation's capital to take on a Canberra Raiders side who have had a mixed bag so far, with four wins and three defeats to their name.

The Dolphins have been the surprise package of the season with four wins from six and they will be out to keep the good run going against Newcastle Knights, who have been rocked by a serious injury to Kalyn Ponga.

Finishing in the top eight would still be viewed as a big achievement for Wayne Bennett's side and they can be backed at 2.10 to do just that.

Massive Ponga blow for Knights

. Odds: Dolphins 1.45, Newcastle Knights 2.75

The Knights have had a poor start to the season after losing five games and have now suffered a huge setback on the injury front.

Not only did they lose 36-12 against the Bulldogs last week, they have also lost the hugely influential Kalyn Ponga for the next few months.

The fullback has been hit by a foot injury and the Knights now face a huge challenge trying to cope without him - they have won just three of the past 10 games when he has not been in the side.

As for the Dolphins, they are flying and will be full of confidence after smashing the Eels last week.

Jack Bostock scored three tries in that game and has six in the last four outings, with the winger 6.50 to score the first try of the game against the Knights, or 1.77 to score at anytime.

The Dolphins are also priced at 3.25 to win the game by 1-12 points.

Sharks continue to bite

. Odds: Canberra Raiders 2.90, Cronulla Sharks 1.42

The Sharks continue to fly high and will be targeting win number six of the season when they take on the Raiders.

They will be feeling good after beating the Cowboys 42-6 last weekend, with Ronaldo Mulitalo grabbing two tries.

The winger has a great record against the Raiders, scoring nine tries in the last 10 games against them and is priced at 6.00 to score the first on Sunday.

Canberra were hammered by the Broncos last weekend, but they will be delighted to be back at GIO Stadium, where they have won five of the last six games.

They have also beaten the Sharks in the past four games at the venue and can be backed at 4.00 to do it by 1-12 on this occasion.

The Raiders have extra motivation if any was needed, as the game marks Ricky Stuart's 500th as an NRL coach.
