Having lost their last seven Super Rugby Pacific encounters against the Chiefs, the NSW Waratahs know they will have to put in their performance of the season to overcome the Kiwi outfit on Friday night.

The Chiefs were the dominant force during the regular season last year, only to lose to rivals the Crusaders in the grand final.

Head coach Clayton McMillan and his side are determined to go one better this season and they have made a solid start this term, with five wins from their opening eight games.

Having lost 36-23 last time out against the Hurricanes, the Chiefs are looking to avoid back-to-back Super Rugby Pacific defeats on Friday night for the first time since May 2021.

Tahs eyeing Kiwi double

The Waratahs head into Friday's showdown in Sydney on the back of an impressive 43-40 win over reigning champions the Crusaders last time out.

Coming out on top in a thrilling shootout against the Christchurch outfit will have given the Tahs squad a significant boost.

Now the Tahs will be aiming for back-to-back victories against New Zealand opposition in this competition for the first time since back in May 2015.

The Crusaders have been well below the standards they set last season and Friday's clash against the Chiefs will be a much sterner challenge.

Even on home soil at Allianz Stadium, the Tahs are the 5.00 underdogs to cause an upset against last season's runners-up.

Chiefs with ground to make up

Even with their solid start to the campaign, the Chiefs know they have ground to make up on frontrunners the Hurricanes, who have won all of their first eight games of the season.

The Chiefs should feel confident of getting back to winning ways, having won all of those last seven meetings with the Tahs.

The Hamilton outfit are firm favourites at 1.15 to claim the win in Sydney, while they are 1.91 with -13 in the Line market.

Considering the Chiefs have won by an average winning margin of 22.1 points per match across those last seven meetings with the Tahs, the Line market is certainly an option in this one.

Looking to the anytime tryscorer market, Emoni Narawa and Etene Nanai-Seturo are both the shortest price at 1.72 to touch down on Friday night.

Narawa is a player in scintillating form at present, having been directly involved in nine tries in his last five games for the Chiefs.

The 24-year-old winger is available at 10.00 to score the opening try of the game at Allianz Stadium, as the Chiefs look to narrow the gap on the flying Hurricanes.
