HAWTHORN v SYDNEY

Sunday 28 April @ MCG

Two perennial rivals from the last decade are at different stages now but it will be no less of a challenge for the Swans against the Hawks.

Hawthorn got off the mark in beating the Kangas and while that is hardly any sort of form line at all, a win is a win for confidence if nothing else.

They have the possibility of several more of the better players coming back which should only help and if the midfield of Newcombe et al can cause dramas, any negativity from the opposition will grow.

Can they score enough against a much better defence now is the key but the MCG will help.

In Sydney they find a side sitting near the top of the ladder and dangerous across most lines.

With Blakey and Florent running off half back, Heeney and Gulden lacing out from the middle, Adams and Grundy at the clearances and some big boppers up front, they should feel confident.

An issue looming but one to be happy about is finding the spots for Mills and Parker. Depth is critical at any stage.

Match Hawthorn Sydney Ground
Last time they met 4.13 [37] 17.16 [118] SCG
Last 10 matches 5 wins 5 wins
Notes 2 Grand Finals + 2 other finals from 2011 to 2014
Sydney has won 3 of last 4 at MCG since that 2014 GF

This is still somewhat of a danger game for the Swans as was evident by what occurred in the Richmond match. You would not put it past the Hawks from lifting for this.

But at some stage the Sydney kicking will be too classy you'd expect and the bigger bodies with Adams and others back will help if things got tight.

Match Selection: Sydney by 20 points

Suggested Bets: Sydney 1-39 @ $2.00 @ bet365
