2023 AFL Round 7 Preview – ADELAIDE v COLLINGWOOD

Racing and Sports will provide analysis of many games in the 2023 AFL Season.

We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.

ADELAIDE v COLLINGWOOD

Sunday 30 April @ Adelaide Oval

The most in form game of the whole round is as its finale when Collingwood head back over to Adelaide but this time meet a true home ground side.

Hard not to be impressed with both these in 2023. One because it was unexpected. The other, because they were good but anticipated not to repeat.

The Crows have been winning games in varying ways. Some like against Carlton when they jumped them and just kept nailing the coffin shut.

The other with a come from behind victory over Hawthorn. That doesn't seem inspiring but you can't be at your best the entire year. The 4 points at this stage is all that is required. Added to that was having led much of the day, they relinquished the lead after ¾ time and looked gone.

But they didn't panic, kicked the last couple of goals and held bravely. The Hawks tried but skill errors were the end.

Adelaide is getting across the park benefits. Drive off half back, midfield pressure, forward sparks and desire. Their biggest quandary is simply accuracy.

When they kick straight they can beat most. When they don't, anyone can win. They will need to this week as Collingwood are on such a roll.

You only feel confident of beating the Pies once the siren goes and you are in front. So many times last year they rose like a Phoenix. Well it happened again on Anzac Day.

Essendon were home – SURELY. Well 7 goals in the last quarter against nil and the result flipped. They were driven by Nick Daicos once again with all the ensemble cast tagging along.

His brother Josh, De Goey having more input, less reliance on the old guard Pendlebury and Sidebottom and then Mitchell extricating it from the centre.

Then if you seem like all that is under control, get past Darcy Moore down back.

Anything less than their best will very likely see Adelaide lose. They need to jump the Pies and pressure them all game. Perhaps put two blokes on Daicos might be the only way. At least one hard tag in reality.

Staring them in the face is Collingwood has won the last 6 outings and remarkably 5 of those were in Adelaide too. They hold no fear. Stay on that tram.

Match Selection: Collingwood by 15 points

Suggested Bets: Collingwood 1-39 @ $2.30
