FREMANTLE v GEELONG

Saturday 20 May @ Optus Stadium

Despite all the fanfare, there is just one win between the Dockers and Cats heading into another Perth Stadium clash.

And this time Freo are coming home off back to back wins while Geelong struggled at the MCG themselves.

Fremantle were good against a disappointing Sydney. Impressive is more apt given it was at the SCG. Even more impressive that they were jumped in the opening stanza and yet kicked 15 goals to 10 thereafter.

They enjoyed the tighter surrounds and got on top of the Sydney midfield. Serong and Brayshaw were joined by O'Meara this time and once the ruck stocks took over, it was one way traffic.

Darcy and Jackson are a top 1-2 punch when they are in form. It is a basis for their best style of play.

They will need to be against the Premiers even if they aren't renowned for excellence in the big man department.

Richmond had them covered for a long way last Friday night. It was full credit to the Tigers. But the Cats had a few excuses in the injury areas.

In days gone by, when Dangerfield was down or out, they'd just flick the Selwood switch and all would be fine. That now cannot happen and it showed.

They did look a trifle lost on leadership and inspiration when needed and again you'd doubt that would available this game.

Watch for Fremantle to build on their wins. They are a momentum side and if the ruck dominates again, they will be tough.

A low scoring battle is what they want. Keeping Cameron and Hawkins quiet is the key. And their backline has the chance to do that.

So we'll play the upset here.
