CARLTON v COLLINGWOOD
Friday 3 May @ MCG
Always one of the biggest clashes of the year but in 2024 it means a hell of a lot. One of them is certainly out of the Eight with a loss, the other quite likely.
Hard to believe that Carlton could play as well as they did from 'tee to green' against Geelong and fail so obviously.
They dominated much of the game last week but once in the forward third, couldn't get it through the big sticks. So many set shots were frittered away and from big names too.
Cripps and Walsh can't play that much better and still not get the cash. There were times when Geelong looked like winning by 50 and then 5 minutes later the game was in the balance.
They now have to pit that against the Pies who are almost in a tricky spot. The Anzac Day Draw gained plenty of fanfare but if anything it was the Bombers taking more way.
You either take the view Langford should have won it or had Elliott taken the late mark, a behind would have secured it for his side.
What the Magpies can't do is keep giving away whopping starts. That becomes more so now with De Goey and Mitchell out from in the middle.

It was going to be a toss of the coin. Both teams have strong thirds (Carl Fwd/Coll Def), strong midfields but slightly weaker at the other end (Carl Def/Coll Fwd).
It could well be won right there. Collingwood should offensively tag Weitering. If he has little influence that could be enough.
Despite that, was all set to tip Collingwood but just with those outs have to say Carlton in the close one.
