INDIA V AUSTRALIA, THIRD TEST, DAY ONE

SCORE: India 109, Australia 4-156

SUMMARY: India captain Rohit Sharma survived two decisions that should have been out in the opening over of the day, seemingly pointing to more dominance from the hosts. But Australia, spearheaded by their trio of spinners, responded in serious fashion, running through India in just 34 overs. Australia lost four wickets before stumps but they have a 47-run lead after their best day of a challenging series.

MAN OF THE MOMENT: Matt Kuhnemann was playing for Queensland less than three weeks ago, but the left-arm spinner had a day he will never forget, tearing through India's top-order to finish with 5-16 - his best haul in first-class cricket in just his second Test. He joins Todd Murphy in producing an extraordinary performance in his debut series.

KEY MOMENT: Nathan Lyon ripping a fierce, low bouncing offbreak into the stumps of India veteran Cheteshwar Pujara set in motion an extraordinary collapse and signified how hard this pitch would be to bat on.

STAT OF THE DAY: India's 109 was their fourth-lowest Test total at home against Australia and their innings was their shortest in terms of balls since 2008.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "It's been a whirlwind. Like every night I'm sort of just pinching myself." - Kuhnemann on his meteoric rise into Test cricket.
