INDIA V AUSTRALIA, FOURTH TEST, DAY FIVE

SCORE: Australia 480 and 2-175 dec, India 571

SUMMARY: Not even India's star spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin could weave their magic on a lifeless pitch. Australia started day five trailing by 91, with India an outside chance of making a run at victory. But Travis Head's 90 and Marnus Labuschagne's unbeaten 63 steered Australia out of trouble and the Test was called off an hour early.

PLAYERS OF THE MOMENT: Without Jadeja and Ashwin in the ranks, India likely would have lost the series. Jadeja was the destroyer in the first two Tests, with bat and ball, despite not playing a red-ball match for eight months. Jadeja and Ashwin were named joint players of the series.

KEY MOMENT: When India's Cheteshwar Pujara took the ball for just his second over in Tests, the game had to be close to finishing. Captains Steve Smith and Rohit Sharma shook hands an over later to bring the Test to an end.

STAT OF THE DAY: Matt Kuhnemann became the first Australian to open and bat at No. 11 in the same Test match since 1929 after coming in as a nightwatchman in place of the injured Usman Khawaja.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Probably the best quality of spin we've played over the last 10 years" - India coach Rahul Dravid was full of praise for Australian spinners Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy and Matt Kuhnemann.
