Ellyse Perry has been tasked with improving the fortunes of Birmingham Phoenix in England's white-ball Hundred competition

The 32-year-old all-rounder has previously skippered white-ball teams Sydney Sixers, in the Women's Big Bash League, and Warriorz, in India's Women's Premier League.

She will be the team third captain in three seasons and replaces New Zealand's Sophie Devine who remains in the squad. Phoenix are coached by Australian Ben Sawyer who has worked with Perry at Sixers. He currently also coaches New Zealand women.

Perry played for Phoenix in the 2022 season when Phoenix came fourth in the eight-team competition.

The 32-year-old withdrew from the inaugural 2021 season when she was booked to play for Phoenix due to "personal circumstances". That was one of several Australian withdrawals as the sport was reopening after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The third edition of the Hundred starts on August 1.
