Minjee Lee accepts she can't rely on happy vibes to help her capture a second Evian Championship when women's golf's fourth and penultimate major of the year gets under way in France.

After travelling to Royal Liverpool last week to watch younger brother Min Woo chase British Open glory, Lee has crossed the English channel with fond memories of winning her first major at Evian-les-Bains two years ago.

The world No.7 famously reeled in a seven-shot final-round deficit in one of golf's great comeback wins.

"Obviously I've been out on the golf course and thinking about what I was doing here and there when I won here but it's a little bit different conditions, a little more windier," Lee said after playing nine practice holes on Tuesday.

"So I think it's going to be a different challenge to when I played it and won.

"It's going to be a little different, my experience, but I'm ready to have a good week."

After rising to second in the rankings following a stellar 2022 featuring two victories, including a second major triumph at the Women's US Open, Australia's highest-earning female athlete has yet to win on tour this year.

But the 26-year-old has still contended in several tournaments, with two uncharacteristic three-putts in the last four holes denying Lee the chance to successfully defend her Cognizant Founders Cup trophy in May.

In her six subsequent starts since that runner-up finish in a playoff to world No.1 Jin Young Ko, Lee has fared no worse than 20th and feels close to breaking her title drought.

"I am always working on something but I have been working on my putting a little bit more than my ball-striking because my ball-striking has been pretty solid," she said.

"So hopefully I can get my putter hot this week and we can have a good week."

Noting that the rough at the Evian Resort Golf Club was lusher than usual, Lee said "definitely keeping it on the fairway" would was high on her game plan.

"Some tee shots are quite tight so your drives and woods off the tee will be really important this week," she said.

"Then obviously if you putt well, it's going to help."

Lee will play the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday with world No.2 Nelly Korda and rising US star Rose Zhang in one of the marquee groupings.

The 132-strong field features all of the world's top 10, American defending champion Brooke Henderson and six Australians in total competing for the $US6.3 million purse ($A9.3m).

Joining Lee are compatriots Hannah Green, Grace Kim, Steph Kyriacou, Sarah Kemp and Karis Davidson.
