Sydney Roosters will be sweating on the health of more key players after forwards Victor Radley and Matt Lodge failed to finish a brutal 28-18 loss to the Dolphins.

Radley left the field in the first half of Sunday's clash after an accidental poke in the eye from teammate Egan Butcher.

He returned but came off worse for wear after a tackle on Dolphins back-rower Kenny Bromwich and failed his HIA.

Lodge also failed an HIA in the second half and both players will undergo NRL concussion protocols.

Roosters coach Trent Robinson said immediately after the game he was unsure of the return date of injured stars Joseph Manu (facial fracture) and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (back), classing them as "maybes".

"They are training OK but they are not one hundred per cent. They will be in the discussion (on Monday)," Robinson said.

The Roosters host the New Zealand Warriors on Saturday.

Robinson's men had a juggling act with their forward rotation against the Dolphins, with hooker Brandon Smith also off the field temporarily for an HIA.

The coach was making no excuses and said his side was "beaten in the ruck".

"We got what we deserved in the end," he said.

The Roosters were pressured into making a plethora of mistakes.

"Concentration-wise and attitude-wise, I think we can definitely fix that," captain James Tedesco said.

"There were some pretty simple errors coming out of our own end which is easily fixable, but I think our middle ruck needs to be better."

Robinson said the Dolphins' physical approach in the middle did not surprise him, while he expected the new club's experienced forwards would continue with a similar template while utilising the craft of hooker Jeremy Marshall-King and the kicking game of half Sean O'Sullivan.

"Our ability to combat that was poor," Robinson said.

"I expect them to (continue to) play like they did today."
