Tigers' Klemmer primed to take on Knights

David Klemmer had an eventful end to his time at Newcastle and the new Wests Tigers prop will be playing with a point to prove.

Wests Tigers teammates say David Klemmer plays with such ferocity that it'll take little to get the big front-rower firing against his old club Newcastle.

Klemmer was shown the door by the Knights over the summer, with playmaker Jackson Hastings heading in the opposite direction.

Klemmer's time at Newcastle ended on a sour note, with the NRL prop forced to front a human resources hearing after verbally abusing a club trainer.

Sunday's meeting at Leichhardt Oval will be the first time Klemmer has faced the Knights since leaving and he's expected to play with a point to prove.

"I think that's the way he plays, he's very aggressive and passionate," said winger David Nofoaluma, who described Klemmer as "angry".

"With players like that, you want to go out there and do your best.

"If that means being aggressive or being a bit rough then so be it, I'm happy he's on my team."

Hastings is also expected to line up for the Knights after going the other way.

The former Manly and Sydney Roosters playmaker was critical of the Tigers' decision to axe Michael Maguire last season.

And his ex-halves partner Adam Doueihi couldn't guarantee that he would be given a rousing reception.

"They're very vocal the Tigers fans, I'm sure I'll leave it to them," Doueihi said.

"The crowd was good to him when he was with us, so I'm not sure how they'll treat him when he comes back on Sunday.

"We obviously have a plan for him and he's someone we are going to have to try and manage.

"He touches the ball a lot of times so we'll be on for him and the rest of the guys on the field."
