Star hooker Egan signs two-year extension with Warriors

The Warriors have tied Wayde Egan to a new two-year deal, only weeks after coach Andrew Webster revealed plans to keep the hooker at the club for life.

Wayde Egan will remain at the Warriors until the end of 2027 after signing a new contract extension.

Egan has played the best football of his NRL career since the arrival of coach Andrew Webster, who said earlier this season he hoped the hooker would remain at the Warriors for life.

The 27-year-old former Panther had been floated as a possible State of Origin bolter earlier in the season, though he has since simmered down following his hot start.

Egan has played 117 NRL games and was the Warriors' first-choice hooker on the run to last year's preliminary final, earning a nomination for Dally M Hooker of the Year.

Last July the Lithgow product re-signed with the Warriors through 2025, but the club has moved to secure him to a new two-year deal and prevent rivals from moving in.

"Wayde is vital to us as an elite hooker, one of the smartest around, and as a leader on and off the field," Webster said.

"He loves it here and we love having him. We've got a style of play we put around him so he can show his talent. He's exceptional and a player I'd like to see at our club for many years to come."
