THEY SAID IT: "I'm very happy for me, honestly. I have to say thank you to myself." - Nobody was happier with Western United captain Alessandro Diamanti's stunning winner against Sydney FC than the man himself.

MAN OF THE WEEK: Adam Taggart. The Socceroos striker only came onto the pitch in the 70th minute, but his two-goal burst helped Perth clinch a memorable 3-1 win. A special mention goes to unheralded midfielder Jacob Dowse, whose two pin-point crosses created the two goals for Taggart.

TALKING POINT: Dwight Yorke parted ways with Macarthur after Friday's 1-0 loss to Adelaide United, with the Bulls still inside the A-League Men finals spots at the midway point of the season. Macarthur said the Trinidadian, who signed a two-year contract with the club last July, had decided to "pursue other opportunities". Watch this space.

TALKING POINT 2: What sort of punishment can both Chris Ikonomidis and Jack Clisby expect? Both were shown a straight red card for their ugly confrontation during Glory's 3-1 win on Saturday night. Ikonomidis kicked Clisby after being brought to the turf in a hard tackle. Clisby reacted by lunging at the throat of Ikonomidis. Both players are likely to cop three-match bans for violent conduct.

STAT ATTACK: Macedonia Park is proving a happy home for Perth. Glory have picked up 14 of a possible 18 points from their six home games at the ground, putting them within goal difference of sixth spot. They also sold out the venue against Victory.

BEAT THAT: Diamanti's stunning winner from 40 yards against Sydney had to be seen to be believed. The Italian slipped the attention of Luke Brattan near the halfway line and spotted Redmayne out of position before unleashing his long-range winner.

UNDER PRESSURE: Victory sit 12th after their 3-1 loss to Perth. Sydney are 10th with the heat cranking up on Steve Corica after losing to Western United. They face off in Melbourne on Thursday and there's clearly more than pride at stake for both teams.

UP NEXT: Floundering Newcastle will hope to crack open Brisbane's staunch defence on Friday night. Wellington are up to third place and will host Perth on Saturday, while Macarthur's first game without Yorke is at home to Western United that evening. Central Coast host Western Sydney that night in a tantalising clash while City host Adelaide on Sunday.
