THEY SAID IT: "If he keeps working, if he keeps his head switched on and has good people around him, he will go all the way to the top." - Adelaide boss Carl Veart after 17-year-old Nestory Irankunda helped them to a 4-2 win over league leaders Melbourne City. The teenager has three goals in his last five games.

MAN OF THE WEEK: Four goals in four games for Noah Botic, who scored in Western United's 2-1 win over Perth Glory. Once touted as the next big thing, the 21-year-old is beginning to find his groove and is dragging the reigning champions up the table just when they need it.

TALKING POINT: How angry must Tony Popovic be after another controversial loss? The Melbourne Victory boss was left fuming after Sydney FC scored from a corner which was incorrectly awarded to the Sky Blues. The ball took a final touch off Sydney captain Alex Wilkinson and Anthony Caceres scored for a 1-0 win. It was the Sky Blues' only shot on target in the whole game and leaves Victory bottom.

STAT ATTACK: Adelaide United haven't lost in eight games in the A-League Men (W4 D4). The last time they enjoyed such an unbeaten streak was in 2016.

BEAT THAT: Western Sydney striker Brandon Borrello has been in red-hot form this season but the build-up to his opener in his side's 2-0 win over the Central Coast Mariners was impressive. Morgan Schneiderlin and Romain Amalfitano were involved in the slick move, but the killer blow came from a pinpoint cross courtesy of new import Amor Layouni, which made it easy for Borrello to finish.

UNDER PRESSURE: Is Perth Glory's race run? Ruben Zadkovich's side haven't won in six games and are staring down the barrel of another season without finals football. The Glory haven't kept a clean sheet since the start of January, are stuck in 11th and welcome the Wanderers to WA next week.

UP NEXT: The Wanderers take the trek to Perth on Friday as Central Coast host Macarthur and Adelaide head to Newcastle in Saturday's games. On Sunday, Sydney are off to Auckland to take on Wellington and Brisbane face an unenviable trip to face Melbourne City. Melbourne Victory meet Western United on Monday.
