ROUND 14 OF THE A-LEAGUE WOMEN AT A GLANCE:-

THEY SAID IT: "It's a shame to not get the full 3 points, as we put in a dominant performance." - coach Ante Juric admitting his disappointment after his Sydney FC team drew 1-1 with rivals Melbourne Victory.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Western United striker Hannah Keane rediscovered her goal touch in style, scoring twice to help Western United to a hard-earned 3-1 win over ladder-leaders Melbourne City.

KEY STAT: After spending 480 days out with an ACL injury, Matildas star Kyah Simon made her return to football in Central Coast's 2-0 F3 derby victory over Newcastle. Simon came off the bench close to the end, 16 years on from her league debut with the club.

BEAT THAT: Substitute Wellington goalkeeper Brianna Edwards stole the show just seconds after coming off the bench, denying the visitors a lifeline after saving Canberra forward Maria Rojas's spotkick with her first touch of the game to keep the scoreline 2-0.

TALKING POINT: The Phoenix's opening goal was chalked off when defender Kate Taylor was found to have fouled Canberra goalkeeper Chloe Lincoln. But Wellington keeper Rylee Foster was shown the red card for violent conduct, having elbowed Sofia Christopherson in the stomach. Foster argued she was protecting herself.

UNDER PRESSURE: Perth continue their downwards trajectory, losing 2-1 to 11th-placed Adelaide United. The Glory had got the perfect start thanks to some clever footwork by Elizabeth Anton but ultimately extended their winless streak to four matches.

WHAT'S NEXT: Round 15 is set to dominate Saturday, with Western United continuing their march to the top spot with a meeting with Central Coast followed by Adelaide hosting Western Sydney. Brisbane take on Victory before Sydney close out the day with Perth. Canberra will be licking their wounds to take on Melbourne City while Newcastle head into their game with Wellington full of confidence.
