Gosford Racecourse is located 70km north of Sydney on the NSW Central Coast and is the home of the Gosford Race Club.

Gosford racecourse is a unique triangular design of 1710m circumference with a long back straight run from the 1200m start before a tight ‘horseshoe’ turn from the 600m and short home straight of only 250m.

Racing on the current Gosford racecourse began in 1913. Gosford Race Club is recognised as one of the leading provincial racing venues in Australia, conducting more than 20 meetings each year.

Feature events conducted at Gosford racecourse are around the Christmas/New Year period. They include the Gosford Gold Cup, Belle of the Turf Stakes, Gosford Guineas and Takeover Target Stakes that was formerly known as the Pacesetter Stakes.

Gosford racecourse has undergone a $4.8 million redevelopment of the Members Grandstand and surrounding spectator precinct.

It has been branded as The Entertainment Grounds since 2015. Gosford City Council has given approved for The Entertainment Grounds to hold up to 14 major infield events each year with a crowd capacity of 10,000 patrons per event.

In recent times the best horse trained at Gosford was Hay List by the late John McNair. Hay List was known as Black Caviar’s greatest rival. Despite never beating her, he gave her some great races.

He himself won three Group 1s being the Manikato Stakes, All Aged Stakes and Newmarket Handicap carrying 58.5kg.
