The Mindarie-Halidon Racing Club celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2016 and continues to be a pillar for the community of the Murray Mallee district. The Racecourse comes to life once a year for the running of the annual race meeting in September and the Mindarie Halidon Cup is known as ‘’the Melbourne Cup of the Mallee” and is supported by the farmers and business people of the district. The Mindarie-Halidon racecourse is a turning course of 1600m circumference with a short home straight of only 240 metres. Racing is conducted over distances from 1000m to 1800m with starting chutes for races over 1200m, 1380m and1800m.
