Roma Turf Club is located 55 kilometres west of Brisbane in Queensland’s Maranoa region and hold nine race meetings a year at the Roma’s Basset Park racecourse. Bassett Park racecourse is located 3km north of the Roma town centre and was opened in 1969 to replace the former Roma racecourse that was a black soil track located west of Roma. The new Roma racecourse at Bassett Park is an all-weather sand track and is the home of the Roma Turf club that evolved from the amalgamation of the Returned Soldiers, Hibernian and Wallumbilla Race Clubs.

The highlight of the season at Roma racecourse is the Roma Cup meeting in November, recognised as the richest meeting in Queensland west of the Great Divide. Roma Picnic Race Club shares the Roma racecourse with Roma Turf Club and conducts its annual picnic race meeting in the autumn.Roma racecourse has a circumference of almost 1800 metres and a hoime straight of 300 metres. The course features a sweeping horseshoe turn from the 800m and starting chutes for races over 1200m and 1600m.
