Three of the five most expensive lots to sell on Sunday at Karaka 2023 during the first day of Book 1 were fillies, with a daughter of Savabeel (Zabeel) the most expensive of the trio when bought for $600,000 by Forsman Racing, Andrew Williams Bloodstock and Bevan Smith Bloodstock.

The filly is the first foal out of winning Makfi (Dubawi) mare Chiaretta who is herself a half-sister to Listed winner Members Joy (Hussonet) being out of Rosa's Spur (Flying Spur).

"It's funny how it's all worked out," said Forsman.

"We didn't want to pay $600k for her but there was strong competition. She was a beautiful filly and we thought she was the standout of the Sale, so we were very determined to get her.

"I think this filly will get up and running early and probably give herself a chance to make the Karaka Million next year," he said.

The filly was bred by Lib Petagna who offered his first crop of yearlings under his own Elsdon Park banner.

Meanwhile, Chris Waller and Mulcaster Bloodstock bought a daughter of Vadamos (Monsun) for $450,000 and paid that same price for a filly by Pierro (Lonhro).

The Vadamos filly was sold by Curraghmore as agent for Nearco Stud and is a half-sister to Group winner Manolo Blahniq (Jimmy Choux) being out of Listed winner Floramour (More Than Ready).

Shortly afterwards, Waller and Mulcaster secured another of Curraghmore's offering when they bought the Pierro filly out of Group 2 winning High Chaparral (Sadler's Wells) mare Forever Loved. The filly's third dam is Group 1 winner Tristalove (Sir Tristram).
