Sydney Specials: Randwick – 22nd of October 2022

Happy to admit I’m still on the floor after Giga Kick won last weekend, gave him none and that’s the beauty of this game, everything is far from certain.

Deep card at Randwick for Spring Champion Stakes day and none more so than the feature.

Prior to 2016 no filly had ever won the Spring Champion but they've now won three of the last six with Montefilia the most recent in 2020.

This weekend the Anthony Cummings trained She's Extreme boasts the best last start rating (weight adjusted) and hence brings the best form to the table through the Flight Stakes.

Both Madame Pommery and Renaissance Woman have subsequently won having finished sixth and seventh behind She's Extreme in the Flight.

This looks to have been the plan all the way through and it's very easy to mount a strong case that She's Extreme should be favourite.

The transferred Gloaming didn't rate as high as the Flight but six come through that event, headed by the Sterling and Alexiou trained Williamsburg.

Not favoured by the Gloaming being transferred to Warwick Farm and dropped back to a mile, Williamsburg still ran very well and we now get to see him at a trip for the first time.

Out of Fenway he is expected to relish the 2000m and finally gets a chance to take up a position from the inside draw, he actually jumped well last start before dragged back to the rear.

Handles all conditions and any rain about it only further enhances his chances.

Loved his win two back and while has a bit too find on She's Extreme, confident he can make that jump – the stable is flying!

Elliptical is the obvious through the Caulfield Guineas but I don't think that form is any good and happy to oppose him at his current quote.

The Chris Waller trained Espiona looks ready now third up and ticks a few notable boxes on Saturday.

She's never fired in three starts at Rosehill so it is a big tick returning to Randwick and love her kept fresh (28 days).

The two times we've seen her race off a similar gap between runs she has walked in and we have nothing between her and Icebath on best form.

Should land midfield from the draw and with good speed up front she should take some holding out.
