John Allen is an Irish jumps jockey who came to Australia in 2004 to compete in an international race series.
Allen returned in 2011 to join the Victorian jumps racing jockey ranks and struck up a partnership with Gotta Take Care, the pair combining for nine wins including three Brendan Drechler Hurdle’, the Australian Hurdle and Galleywood Hurdle.
Also riding on the flat, John Allen claimed his first Group 1 success aboard Howard Be Thy Name in the 2016 SA Derby, winning the same race in 2017 aboard Volatile Mix.
Allen does most of his riding for leading Victorian trainer Darren Weir with the pair having plenty of success over the hurdles and in the country.
