A few fillies have won the race with Karuta Queen the most recent in 2011.

The most famous winner of the Red Anchor Stakes is Rubiton who would win a Cox Plate a year later.

Portland Sky won this race and then the following Autumn won the Manfred Stks and the G1 Oakleigh Plate.
